Luke and I recently went to Montgomery, Alabama for a business trip. For those of you who don't know, Luke has trouble flying so I went to help him through the flight. Here are the highlights:

The drive from the Atlanta airport to Montgomery was really pretty. It was two hours of this nice rolling, tree-lined freeway..... nothing like I-15!!

The Waffle House. This chain was everywhere!! I'm pretty sure it was more prevalent than McDonalds. We never went to one because we heard it wasn't very good, but I think it's basically a "fast-food" waffle house.
Below are pictures of Live Oak Cemetery. It's this really beautiful, old cemetery Luke and I went to. I love to walk around cemeteries and read the old tombstones and wonder about the lives of the people buried there. I find it really peaceful. Anyway, this particular cemetery has these huge oak trees with spanish moss hanging down. There were confederate soldier graves and little plots with really pretty wrought iron fences. It was really awesome....

An example of the wrought iron work around the cemetery.

A view down the lane with the oak trees and the moss hanging down. So pretty!

Here is the section of confederate soldier graves.

This is the mausoleum of William R. King, Vice President of the United States. Never heard of him?? Neither had Luke and I! We were a bit surprised that a vice-president would be buried in a tiny cemetery in Selma, Alabama. Here's a little history lesson: William King was vice-president under Franklin Pierce for 45 days until he died in office of tuberculosis. He apparently co-founded the town of Selma.

This is the tallest grave marker I've ever seen. Look how tiny Luke looks next to it!!!
