We've had a few pretty good months here at the Soares house. First up is Halloween. I think the kids had a quite a lot of fun this year. Izzy was super excited to be Tinkerbell and Logan was psyched to be Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, his current obsession.
We went to Alicia's ward trunk-or-treat and then came back to our neighborhood for a little bit of trick-or-treating. This was the first year we've done neighborhood trick-or-treating. The previous years Logan hasn't wanted to go because (as I'm sure you know by now) he's super shy and he really didn't have anyone to go with. This year Jackson and Izzy are older and could lend some moral support. He was nervous at first but then decided it was worth it for the candy. :-)
Our neighborhood is freakin crazy on Halloween. I've NEVER seen so many kids running around. Parents bring van-fulls of children and drop them off in our neighborhood. We got back to our house about 7:30 and started to hand out candy from the massive bag I bought. We were out of candy by 8:00. Nuts!!
Luke and I got away for a little mini-vacation in December. We decided to go to the Oregon Coast. We've always wanted to go in the winter to see what it's like. We didn't get to see any cool ocean storms but we a really great and relaxing time anyway. We stayed in Cannon Beach and it was sooooo nice! Cannon Beach is usually super crowded in the summer but in the winter time it's practically deserted! We got to our hotel about 3:00 on a Friday. I looked out at the beach at Haystack Rock and counted 5 people! Awesome!

We drove up to Astoria and walked to a Lighthouse at Cape Disappointment. Above is the Astoria Bridge.
Cape Disappointment. This is where the Columbia River empties into the Pacific.

Christmas Eve we had the Kupfer side of the family over for a turkey dinner. Afterward we played Just Dance on the Wii. Fun times. My poor little Logan got the flu a few days before Christmas. We thought he was getting better but took a bad turn on Christmas Eve. He just laid on the couch watching the action. Poor kid. He didn't even want to put out cookies for Santa. He said, "You just put them out and take a picture for me." I felt so bad for him. It sucks to be sick on Christmas!!
Jackson and Izzy are two peas in a pod. They both have so much crazy energy that it's best to just let them wear each other out.
Christmas morning we got up and opened presents at our house then went to G&G Kupfers for breakfast and more gift opening. Logan's fever finally broke sometime during the night so he was feeling a bit better for the morning. G&G Hanson and the rest of the family came over to our house for a late Christmas lunch and more gift opening. We had a lovely Christmas. The kids were spoiled by all as usual!
